Tuna Académica de Biomédicas
...The history

We are a male musical group with about 35 elements: Medicine students, Veterinary Medicine students and Doctors that intend to keep belowing to such a nobel project. Here is a brief of our history... It was on January 2003 that a group of ICBAS students (Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar - The Abel Salazar Institute for Biomedical Sciences - University of Oporto - Portugal), moved by the common interest in music and academical life, created a male group that, with the important logistic support of the extinguished Tuna-me Isto - Tuna Mista do ICBAS - would be called TAB - Tuna Académica de Biomédicas. The consensus that joined this group of friends was simple: the love for the music, academical life and diversion... joining this to dedication, work and enthusiasm. It was established that this group would be ruled by the academic tradition and the most important base for its foundation would be the musical quality and to honour the student's traditional music, our Institute and the Oporto city that welcomed us. Although the official presentation has been made at 30th September 2003, on the week of reception to the freshmen of our Institute, the TAB had already a full calendar of exhibitions, what meant an awesome start and a prosper future. We know that all of us will always remember our student's life. Our experiences on this academical group, space for unique experiences, will be remember through life, as the best years of our youth. Music and bohemia, spirit and academic tradition, friends and friendship, serenades and beautiful girls, dinners and toasts, stages and voyages... ...this is what Tuna Académica de Biomédicas pretends to be.
